Double standards on bisexuality?

5.50.29pm GMT Mon 6th Feb 2006

DELGA has welcomed research by LGBT news site Pink News into media ignorance about bisexuality following the reports of Simon Hughes' coming out. They found that over 90% of stories misrepresented what Simon had said about his sexual orientation.

DELGA chair Kelvin Meyrick commented, "As Pink News' research shows the mainstream press continues to misrepresent bisexual men as being gay, as if their opposite-sex relationships are somehow less valid."

"However, when it comes to attractive women the press is often only too keen to tell readers that someone is bisexual. Time to stamp out the double standard!"
