Commenting on today's publication of the Equalities Bill, Liberal Democrat Youth and Equality Spokesperson, Lynne Featherstone said, "Efforts to tackle entrenched inequality are welcome, but serious questions must be asked about why the private sector is getting off so lightly."

DELGA Chair Jen Yockney added, "While it is easier to press an equality agenda on the public sector, who are spending our taxes and so can more readily be held accountable if they are not giving fair treatment to LGBT and other marginalised groups, we cannot let the private sector lag too far behind."
