Brian Paddick - Hero of the Year?

DELGA are hoping for good news for Lib Dems at tonight's Stonewall Awards in London. Amongst the shortlisted nominees are high profile Lib Dems: Lord Alex Carlile for Politician of the Year, and Brian Paddick, who became perhaps the highest profile out politician in Britain when he stood as Lib Dem candidate for Mayor of London this year. Brian is shortlisted for Hero of the Year, a category chosen by Stonewall supporters.

Past darling of Lib Dem conference, News Quiz presenter Sandi Toksvig, is also shortlisted as Broadcaster of the Year.

DELGA Chair Jen Yockney said, "Much of the publicity around these awards has centered on Julie Bindel's controversial nomination as Journalist of the Year. I hope that this will not detract from the recognition that these awards give to people who have worked hard on rights and visibility for bisexual, lesbian and gay people and communities."

"Good luck Brian, Alex and Sandi!"
